Treasures unearthed- Finally!
Here`s the day I`ve been waiting for! The Reavel day for the Bead Peeps Swap n Hop challenge 2016. It has been a journey full of new beginings so to say , right from being partenered with a most wonderful friend and beader Krafty Max to learning new techniques and finally creating this wonderful collection from the lovely beads she sent me .
Here`s what I have made ;
The trials before the final outcome.......
This collection is my favourite as I love a touch of ethnic combination as as soon as I saw the turquoise howlite drop beads, I decided to make something with coral color. Asian influence is definately showing here. The black lava drop beads sent by my partner are an added advantage. I could make lovely earrings too!
The next piece is a tassel necklace and I have been wanting to create for some time but never got around doing it. The blue flat bead from my swap goodies was perfect for this one .The intricate minakari (enamel jewellery) always fascinates me, so here`s the necklace " Jaipur" , I`ve named from the place this art is famous for .
There were also two sets of seed bead mixes which I really loved. Hence I created two different necklaces each in a different technique. It was a bit of a challenge as I had to do and undo a few times till I got the look I wanted. Here`s the first one which I have named " Jewel of the Nile " The seed bead mix of blue remininded me of the deep waters of the flowing river and the Swarovski Navette bead focal a treasure glistening in that water. My photo skills are sadly lacking and I have not been able to capture the shimmer of this necklace . It glows as if it is really flowing water if you know what I mean.
And this is the next seed bead mix necklace. I had these beautiful topaz beads that I had got years ago from Rajasthan, but never made anything for want of a correct compliment accessory . The colors of the bead mix was beautifull! Translucent, soft and muted!! Reminded me of semi precious gemstone . So they had to be matched with the topaz . I made the beaded beads with ladder stitch and here it is My necklace " Golden Trails"
And now for the final pictures................
Look at the collection I have made. My jewellery box is full of treasures, thanks to my generous partner Krafty Max. I to say I am thrilled would be putting it mildly And a special thanks to Linda Anderson too; our hostess for organizing the hop.
I still have a lot of goodies that I have not been able to use as the deadline is today but do drop by . Will be posting the completed pieces as I finish them. And I would love to hear from you.
Do look up the beautiful jewellery the other participants have made . Here are the links :

OH MY GOODNESS!! I have to say that I am so VERY proud to have inspired those creations!! EVERYTHING is wonderful....many of them competition quality creations!! You did an AMAZING job!! ~KM
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked the pieces. It`s all because of you that I could come up with this collection. The goodies that you sent are really awesome and I wanted to do justice to what you so lovingly gathered and sent . Thank you partner!! :)
DeleteThis is the third time I've tried to comment so apologies if I dont wax quite as lyrical as the first two. I loved the first set, but it was your choice of beads, color combinations and the seed beaded beads that transformed it.And for the blue necklace, I keep expanding the page to see the construction, thats one fine piece of engineering there in that structure. Impressive all through and its not easy going from what you visualized to actually creating it.
ReplyDeleteThank you! You are really generous in your praise! The first set is my favourite too. I just loved the seed bead mix my partner sent me and had to find a fitting accompaniment to show them off. And the blue one was a creation that was no problem to create as I love rivers ! Am staying next to one! And that color mix does remind you of flowing waters of the river :)
DeleteHi : All the pieces are fantastic.I am happy to have found Your Blog. There are still lots of things to admire,to learn and get inspired with.-Best Greetings and Happy Beading to You-
ReplyDeleteGreeting to you too . Welcome to my blog H.T. I am a great fan of your work, and it feels great knowing that you liked my work.
DeleteSuch incredible beading!! Especially love the tassel necklace!
ReplyDeleteThank you Mimi. Always wanted to make a tassel necklace as they are so trendy, and the bead focal that my partner sent was just right for one :)
DeleteWow! Your seed bead work is amazing!! I love the turquoise howlite & coral set. Gorgeous :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your encouragement .The turquoise and coral as a combination is an all time favourite and it does make any jewellery stand out. :)
DeleteJewel of the Nile is right! Stunning necklace. Would you mind sharing what stitch that is?
ReplyDeleteThanks. The stitch is ogalala lace, and it is actually the seed bead mix which makes it look so. A slight variation in the colors make it look really good and I love the ruffled lacy effect of this one
DeleteSo beautiful! I love the intricate seed bead work on your pieces.
ReplyDeleteThanks! I love to work with seed beads and though I had decided to try and use use other techniques, I ended up making all my pieces in bead weaving for this challenge :)
DeleteJewel of the Nile what a fantastic piece. Looks geometric yet lacy. Love it
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it. It turned out just as I had imagined :)
ReplyDeletePallavi, fantastic pieces. I love the first necklace - its gorgeous. But golden trails has stolen my heart. I am pretty sure that they both are out of my budget and I have no clothes that will do them justice, otherwise I'll buy them. You must make some beaded beads for me sometime
ReplyDeleteThanks Divya! And yes now after looking at the things I've made I do think that there is a lot of ethnic influence in these. Golden trails could only happen as my partner sent me these lovely seed bead mixes. The topaz string was bought quite some time ago, but never got around making anything as I could not find the right beads. It looks even better in person!
DeleteHi Pallavi, FABULOUS!! When I saw the first piece I thought this has to be the best but as I looked more I grew more impressed. Each piece is absolutely stunning. My favorite is "Jaipur" as I adore fringe.
ReplyDeleteThank you Becky for your encouraging words It has been a really fantastic journey for all of us and I think we all came up with beautiful pieces, totally awe inspiring. I can now honestly admit that my beading skills have improved after this challenge. " Jaipur" was actually the result of two previous attempts.
DeletePallavi, I am just blown away at your designs!! They are all really beautiful!!! My very favorite though is the Jewel of the Nile!!! That is Just STUNNING!!! Be Blessed!
ReplyDeleteThank you Robin. And blessings to you too. :)
DeleteWow. Just... wow. <3

Thank you Sir.It`s all because of your guidance that I am able to maintain my blog, though I still do get a bit flustered when I am unable to put something right. Lost all the notes in the December floods at home, so it`s difficult but still do manage to put posts. But as you know, what takes up most of my time is ---my Beadwork!!
DeleteBeautiful - my favs are the items with Turquoise =, so eye catching
ReplyDeleteThank you Natalie :)

Thanks Rachel. I loved it too. The photo does not do it justice. Wish my skills in that department were better .
DeleteTalk about gorgeous designs! They are all so different and beautiful.
ReplyDeleteThank you Shaiha! My partner had sent such a lovely variety of beads that I coul'dnt stop myself . :)
DeleteWhat and awesome collection - everything from the beaded cords and pendants to the beaded caps and beads is gorgeous! You definitely rocked your soup! All the designs are out of the ordinary but The Jewel of Nile is absolutely fabulous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by to have a look at my bead swap collection. I had been wanting to use this technique for my project and the seed bead mix that my partner sent was perfect.
DeleteYour work is just awesome. Loved the pieces. How do you make the rope tassel? I am trying to learn that technique. I am glad that we are connected through FB now, Palak. Good work. Take care.
ReplyDeleteThank you Dita. The rope tassel is quite easy . Just wind cord for a number of times ( I used 15) around a 3 inch card . Insert a 18 gauge wire at one end and release from the card. Wrap the loop to form a bail. Slit the other side of the cords and voilĂ , the tassel is ready!
DeleteOMG! All are stunningly beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks Ranjana :)
DeleteAwesome! totally gobsmacked at how many gorgeous pieces of jewellery you have made! So many wonderful colours and designs in each piece, sublime.
ReplyDeleteGlad you liked it! The beads my partner sent me were so gorgeous that I just could not help myself! I wanted to use them all, (which however was not possible) ... And this being the second time l participated, I had promised myself to start working on it immediately and not wait till the deadline ,hence the collection.
DeleteAwesome creations and work. I loved the turquoise and coral combination a lot.
ReplyDeleteThanks Vasudha. Turquoise and coral combination is an all time favorite, what I love too.
Deletewow awesome collection given, i liked all the designs. We can wear on any dress but it will be difficult to take care of such jewellery, and so i used to wear jewellery according to season wise. Like currently in summer i am wearing fashion jewellery which suits with summer dress and no need to worry about how to take care it from sunlight. If you want such fashion jewellery you can check Jewel Diaries site.
ReplyDeleteI really love your dead choice and style. The lava bead earrings are fabulous! Have a very nice weekend.
ReplyDeleteThank you Nicole.
DeleteWOW Such gorgeous sets...each soooo beautiful
ReplyDeleteCheers
