The arrival of spring brings a new zest in the air. The mother earth gears up to don her very best , throwing the clouds of dark and dismal winter away.
In India according to the hindu calender it also marks the arrival of Vasant Panchami , vasant meaning spring and panchami meaning fifth day of spring. On this day , offerings of fresh mango flowers are offered to the Gods , seeking blessings for bounty of crops especially mangoes .
The color yellow also plays an important role in this festival. People usually wear yellow garments on this day ,and yellow sweets are offered to God. The Goddess of Knowledge - Saraswati , is specially worshipped on this day and many astrologers consider Vasant Panchami as auspicious to start all good work.
This bracelet that I have named Sunburst in Spring has been created . inspired by the vibrant colours of ripe mangoes , yellow and orange ,on a netted base . my very first attempt at learning a new technique
Today being Vasant Panchami I thought it apt to post this project and pray that this spring brings joy and a fresh new begining , to every one of us and everything around us!
